Our Mission and Legacy

The Withlacoochee Regional Search and Rescue Squad is a committed volunteer organization dedicated to conducting life-saving search and rescue operations throughout West Florida. Our mission is to provide rapid response and expert assistance in emergencies, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community. Established on the principles of courage and compassion, we strive to follow in the footsteps of those who have paved the way for safer communities, living by our motto: ‘We follow in their footsteps … so that others may live!’

Since our inception, we have been at the forefront of search and rescue efforts, combining traditional techniques with modern technology to locate and assist those in need. Our team is composed of highly trained volunteers who are passionate about making a difference and are always ready to respond at a moment’s notice. We are proud to serve our community and uphold a legacy of dedication and service.

Our Expertise

Search & Rescue Unit

We conduct thorough search operations in diverse terrains, utilizing advanced technology and skilled personnel to locate missing individuals efficiently.

Marine Unit

On the water, or below it, we have the skills to operate in water. Our motorized RIB gets us where we need to go.

Mounted Unit

Our mounted unit brings a unique capability to the response. The team trains on tracking and cadaver location.

K-9 Unit

The K-9 unit is highly mobile and flexible. It is able to deploy rapidly and start the search before the area is contaminated by volunteers.

EMS Unit

The EMS unit is staffed by trained personnel that can provide basic first aid to a recovered victim or a community event.

Mental Health Unit

We empower communities by providing training sessions on emergency preparedness and first aid, fostering resilience and readiness.
